Training and career

Twenty years, in order

Dermatology is a long apprenticeship. This is where the experience behind your consultation actually came from.

1999

Medical degree

Medical degree, MBChB

Qualified in medicine after a school career split between the sciences and fine art — she took A-Level Art and Art History to grade A alongside her science subjects, and still credits that training for how she reads a face.

2001

Dermatology

Diploma in Dermatology

Formal dermatology qualification taken after her general medical training, alongside MRCGP, DFFP and DRCOG.

2000s

NHS

Dermatology training in the NHS

Years spent treating eczema, acne, psoriasis and pigmentation across every skin type — Caucasian, Indian, Afro-Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Hispanic. This is where a doctor learns which pigmentation is safe to treat with a laser and which will punish you for it.

2009

Aesthetics

Into aesthetics, lasers and cosmetic dermatology

Intensive training in aesthetics begins, and with it the use of high medical-grade therapeutic skincare for medical skin conditions rather than cosmetic concerns alone.

2016

Teaching

Invited to lead ZO Skin Health training in the UK

Invited by Wigmore Medical London to become lead trainer for ZO Skin Health, teaching other practitioners how to prescribe and sequence medical-grade skincare. She practised on Harley Street from this point.

Areas of practice

What Dr Prasad treats

Medical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology, with a particular interest in pigmentation and in treating skin of colour safely.

Not sure which of these applies to you? That is what the consultation is for — Dr Prasad examines your skin and tells you what you are actually dealing with before any treatment is agreed.

In her words

Medicine, and a painter’s eye

Dr Prasad wrote this herself. It explains the clinic better than a biography written in the third person could.

Dr Anamica Prasad

Welcome to Faciem Dermatology & Medical Clinic. As a patient, each aspect of your skin journey will be thoughtfully curated to offer you a uniquely personalised experience.

While my journey began with a deep appreciation for the sciences at school in preparation for medical school, I found myself also highly talented and enamoured by the world of Fine Art. As a result my art teacher would take us to the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy London and I recall being immersed in the works of Monet and Van Gogh. My passion for both Medicine and Art led me to achieve a grade A in A-Level Art & Art History, setting the stage for a dynamic fusion of science and artistry which has helped me endlessly in Dermatology and achieving the finest results for my patients.

In 1999, I successfully achieved my Medical Degree and after a period of general medical training I trained in NHS Dermatology. Here I gained a deep understanding of treating eczema, acne, psoriasis, pigmentation and treating all skin types, from Caucasian, Indian, Afro-Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Hispanic. In 2009, my journey expanded into aesthetics and lasers and cosmetic dermatology. Since 2009 I started my intense training in Aesthetics and in 2016 I was invited to be lead trainer for ZO Skin Health by Wigmore Medical London. I worked on Harley Street since then.

As a teenager I faced my own struggles with acne and being of Indian origin I experienced hyper-pigmentation and so my own frustration in treating this shaped my ambition and desire to create a clinic that treats patients not only with medical dermatology problems but the cosmetic aspects. Since 2009 I have been using high medical grade therapeutic skincare for various conditions.

I see the skin as the canvas where patients attend with imperfections and where I can use my tools to correct these.

Drawing from my artistic skills, I transitioned from using paintbrush on the canvas (my forte being detailed watercolour) to the instruments of cosmetic dermatology — chemical peels, potent skin care and lasers.

As well as Medical and Cosmetic dermatology I use my sharp artistic eyes to sculpt, correct and enhance the face, this is a testament to my understanding of the ageing process and how to improve the lines and shadows that come with it. I firmly believe that my artistic sensibility, honed through the study of art, shape, form and light, empowers me to achieve results that are not just beautiful but enduring.

As I combine the realms of medicine and art in my passion for Facial Aesthetics and Corrective Cosmetic Dermatology, I am delighted to welcome you to my clinical surroundings in the heart of central London, Kensington.

Here you will experience a journey where medical dermatological science meets art.

Your skin deserves the best no nonsense evidence based treatment. Don’t trust just anyone with your skin.

Qualifications and societies

Where she is qualified, and who she answers to

Aesthetic medicine is a lightly regulated field in the UK. Memberships are one of the few ways a patient can check that a practitioner is accountable to somebody.

Qualifications

Societies and registers

Teaching and training

Membership of the Aesthetic Complications Group matters more than it sounds: it is the body practitioners turn to when an injectable treatment goes wrong, and joining it means committing to managing complications rather than referring them elsewhere.

Your consultation

What happens when you see Dr Prasad

Every plan starts the same way, whether you have come about a rash or about a line you have stopped liking.

01

Consultation

Dr Prasad watches how your forehead, brow and eye muscles actually move, reviews your medical history and any previous injectable treatment, and tells you whether the lines that bother you are the sort that respond to anti-wrinkle injections. Because botulinum toxin is prescription-only, this face-to-face assessment is a legal requirement as well as a clinical one.

02

Examination

Your skin is examined in person, in good light, and your skin type is assessed — which determines what can safely be used on it.

03

Diagnosis and options

What the problem is, what the realistic options are, what each involves and what it will cost — including the option of doing nothing.

04

The plan

An agreed plan, with prices confirmed before anything goes ahead. Complex procedures are not usually carried out at a first consultation.

A £50 booking deposit is taken for all appointments and comes off the cost on the day. Full booking, cancellation and payment terms are in our terms and conditions.
