Most skin concerns are treated best when they are diagnosed first. Rosacea is mistaken for acne, pigmentation for scarring, and a mole worth checking for a harmless lump — which is why every plan at Faciem begins with a face-to-face consultation, never a product recommendation.
Browse the conditions below to read about the concern that matches what you see, then book an assessment with Dr Anamica Prasad at our Kensington clinic.

The Face
Volume loss, gravity and collagen breakdown change the face gradually. These pages explain what is actually happening beneath the skin — and which changes can be restored non-surgically.
Volume loss, skin laxity and gravity cause the eyelids to become heavy, drooped and hooded — often the first area where ageing shows.

Dark circles and hollowing usually have several interacting causes — bone absorption, falling fat pads and genetics — so treatment starts with identifying yours.
Learn more →
Jowls form when fat that once sat higher in the face falls with age and gravity, making the jawline look heavier and weaker.
Learn more →
As collagen breaks down and fat descends, the jawline softens. Careful contouring restores definition without surgery.
Learn more →
A small or receding chin can unbalance the whole profile. This is one of the most rewarding areas to correct non-surgically.
Learn more →
Precise filler placement can straighten a bump or lift a tip — a dramatic difference with no surgery and minimal downtime.
Learn more →
Nasolabial folds form as fat pads beneath the skin shrink, separate and slide downwards. Understanding the mechanics shapes the right correction.
Learn more →
With age the mouth gradually takes on a downward set. Lifting techniques restore a more rested, youthful expression.
Learn more →
Facial wrinkles come from ageing, sun exposure and the gradual breakdown of collagen and elastin — each of which is addressed differently.
Learn more →
The neck and décolletage lose volume, collagen and elastin — accelerated by sun and smoking — and are often forgotten until the change is marked.
Learn more →
Texture & Inflammation
Inflammatory conditions damage collagen the longer they run — which is why early, accurate diagnosis prevents more than any later treatment can correct.
One of the commonest facial problems: inflammation and blockage around the sebaceous glands, usually beginning when hormones stimulate the oil glands.
Learn more →
Ice pick, boxcar, rolling or raised — scars form when inflammation destroys collagen, and each type responds to a different treatment.
Learn more →
Enlarged pores respond well to modern cosmetic dermatology — from prescription skincare to peels — once the driver is identified.
Learn more →
Excess oil drives blockages, congestion and acne, leaving skin dull and bumpy rather than smooth. It is controllable with the right regime.
Learn more →
A long-term inflammatory condition that presents so variably — flushing, flat red areas, spots — that it is frequently misdiagnosed as acne.
Learn more →
A very common immune-mediated inflammatory condition that can take over daily life and cause scarring if it goes unmanaged.
Learn more →
Keratosis pilaris is caused by glands plugged with dead skin cells. A range of treatments keeps it comfortably under control.
Learn more →
Coarse hair coiling beneath the skin causes blockages, inflammation and dark post-inflammatory marks — on any hair-bearing area.
Learn more →
A bite, burn, spot or injury can trigger the skin to over-produce collagen, leaving a scar that sits proud of the surface. It is treatable.

Tone & Colour
Pigment conditions are among the most misdiagnosed in dermatology, and the most sensitive to skin tone. Settings and preparation are adjusted for Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin as standard.
Skin colour depends on melanin and the activity of the melanocyte. When that activity is disturbed, dark patches follow — and the cause dictates the fix.

A leading London hyper-pigmentation clinic: melasma managed start to finish by Dr Prasad, a doctor with 20 years in dermatology.
Learn more →
Freckles fade in winter; sun spots do not. Telling them apart is the first step in deciding whether — and how — to treat them.
Learn more →
Pigment loss can follow trauma, inflammation or eczema, or result from vitiligo — each requiring a different management approach.
Learn more →
Common in skin of colour and often linked to insulin resistance, this darkening at the neck and folds can signal something worth investigating.
Learn more →
Hard yellow patches around the eyelids — sometimes a sign of raised blood fats, which is why a medical review comes before removal.
Learn more →
Medical Dermatology & Body
Some skin changes need a doctor’s eye before anything else. These pages cover the concerns where medical assessment matters most — and the body areas skincare routinely forgets.
A full dermatology service including general consultations and mole checks — for new, changing or simply worrying moles.
Learn more →
Skin tags and benign moles are the lumps that bother patients most. Diagnosis first, then safe removal where appropriate.
Learn more →
Alopecia areata is an auto-immune problem of the follicle, often stress-triggered — and it can be treated and controlled.
Learn more →
Dry, hardened, darkened skin at pressure points affects all skin types, and skin of colour especially. It responds well to targeted care.
Learn more →
Localised excessive sweating — situational or constant — is common, distressing and very treatable.
Learn more →
Often overlooked, the skin here dehydrates with age and builds callous under repeated pressure. Rejuvenation restores comfort and appearance.

Yes. Every plan at Faciem begins with a face-to-face consultation with Dr Prasad. Many skin concerns look alike — rosacea is mistaken for acne, pigmentation for scarring — and treating the wrong condition wastes both time and money. Assessment always comes first.

Yes. Skin is graded on the Fitzpatrick scale, I to VI, and laser settings, peel strengths and pigmentation risk are judged against your skin type, not a default. Dr Prasad trained in the NHS treating Caucasian, Indian, Afro-Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Hispanic skin.
That is exactly what a consultation is for. Dr Prasad takes a full medical and skin history to reach an accurate diagnosis before any treatment is discussed. In the meantime, the conditions on this page can help you read about concerns that match what you see.
